Presidents Report
ABTC continues to ensure that tennis is a viable sporting option for all ages & abilities within the community.
Competition:
2 Senior & 2 Junior teams represented The Bay in the 2021/22 Polworth Tennis League – most impressive number considering the commitment & dedication this requires. It’s also in stark contrast to the unfortunate trend of waning numbers that many clubs in the league are currently experiencing.
Seniors B Grade: Sea Eagles were knocked out in the semi-finals. King Parrots delivered a valiant effort each week.
Juniors: Div. 4 played fearlessly in their final but were outclassed on the day. Nonetheless an excellent effort that cements a strong platform for this year’s comp.
Div. 3 – Congratulations for winning the Grand Final. Having moved up from Div 4, the team executed strong & consistent play, with impeccable sportsmanship that made that the club & coach Marvin proud. Well done.
Social Tennis continues to be a fixture on Mondays & Wednesdays. Between 4 & 12 players gather each week to have a hit regardless of inclement weather. Well done legends, & Bruce.
GORCAPA & and their plans to upgrade the Apollo Bay Recreation Reserve provided us with an opportunity to submit a Wish List that will potentially see our club’s infrastructure upgraded with the future of our historic clubhouse ensured. We continue to watch this space.
Coaching: We are so fortunate to have the commitment, skill & temperament of Marvellous Marvin Barker & his coaching is a main reason our Juniors continue to dominate in the Polworth District League. The standard he sets for technical acuity & excellent sportsmanship is exemplary & we look forward to seeing his Monday lessons continue.
Thank you to all parents, participants, & committee members.
